Oppomeet Europe, spring 2020; where should we go? Poll!

!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!

After a vote on the date (April 6-10) we still need to pick a location. What will it be? Hungary? Scotland? Italy? Croatia? Greece? Spain? Portugal? You decide!

What is this whole Oppomeet thing about?

There have been multiple of these in North America and Europe. Here I focus on the latter only.

We tend to arrange a meet that has the potential of a week long vacation as well. Some come just for a day , others up to a week . We have activities planned on the week days, the weekends can be used to travel from/to the location.We drive great roads, since the last meet we’ve added a bit of culture beyond purely car culture and there’s socializing at night (and during breakfast, and lunch, and...).

We have had up to 7 nationalities present at the same time, and I would like to see more the next time. I’ve seen American, Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Luxembourgian and Hungarian people show up so far. No Scandinavians, no Poles, no Italians, no Canadians, no Spaniards and no others so far. This needs to change!

Locations

The locations in the poll have either been suggested in an earlier post, or in our whatsapp group. Some of the suggested locations have been removed as they might still have too much snow in early April. The locations and their descriptions are crudely described here, when a location has been picked we will work out the details further.

Hey! You guys mentioned Western Spain or Portugal, honestly I’d take Portugal over Western Spain for a car meet. Much nicer drives, much more dense; it’s easier to find cool stuff to do, and the food is amazing.

Though I believe Portugal is more expensive than Galicia is, and in Galicia you could do a great tour of a bunch of beautiful places, with amazing roads, for very little money (you could sleep at the hostels where people doing Saint James’ way sleep).

Personally, I’d consider starting in Coruña, heading down to Santiago, and then to Finisterre, consider going to Pontevedra and Vigo... I imagine you’d arrive through the north, and for that Lugo is a great place to start.

I’m not quite familiar with restaurants and things to do up in the north... Santiago is pretty nice in and of itself... but honestly Portugal is probably better, Spanish cops are really petty about “speeding. ”

Either way, I’m not sure I could commit to the meet because I don’t know what my family wants to do for Spring break, but if you guys wind up nearby I’d be sure to show up for the photo op at least!

Thank you for the extra information! If we pick Spain/Portugal we’ll certainly use it, as information from a ‘local’ is better than internet wisdom.

You don’t have to commit to anything at this time . This is merely a poll.
